My Hobby
Through the course of our lives, we bide our time doing particular tasks that may either help us to earn our living or build the staircases to our futures and careers. However, amidst these compulsory tasks, most of us also do things which we enjoy doing. Such activities are called ‘hobbies.’
Hobbies are activities which help us escape the daily grind of life and work and give us pleasure and peace of mind. Because we are not being ordered to perform certain jobs which we may not be fond of, hobbies help to inculcate an appreciation for work rather than driving us away from it.
The interesting thing about hobbies is that they dramatically improve our own personalities and character traits, therefore improving our performances better on the whole. They help us discover talents and abilities which we may never have known ourselves to possess also giving us an insight of all the elements around us, making us learn new things each day. For instance, hobbies like stamp collecting, bird watching, photography, sports and music make our time worthwhile and give us information about different things.
My hobby is gardening. The joy of witnessing blooming flowers and leaves fills my heart with a sense of achievement and realizing the fact that the work of my own hands is bearing fruit definitely gives me pleasure.
Gardening also helps to keep me fit, strong and healthy for working away in my garden results in the beneficial kind of exercise that is good for both mind and body. I inherited the love for gardening from my mother and now with her help and interest; I have prepared a small garden in front of our porch. It is a thing of beauty with a grassy carpet and trimmed hedges.
I grow several varieties of plants including the China rose, jasmines, ferns and gladioli in my garden. The recently purchased Christmas tree is a welcome addition too. Every day after school it is my habit to check on my garden and look after the plants. The garden has to be kept under a strict check, mowed punctually as the grass grows at a speedy rate during the rainy season, and cleaned at least twice a week. However, during autumn due to the shedding of the leaves, I have to clean it daily while always adding manure and plant medicine for the protection of these wonderful creations of God. A little bouquet of pretty flowers also makes a wonderful gift for birthdays and anniversaries.
I am also thinking of including vegetables in my garden for it will save us the purchase of vegetables from the market and we may also sell them to other people at respectable sums of money. It is possible to grow the vegetables that are consumed daily and do not take up much space.
It is always a great feeling to have my garden admired and appreciated by other people and it helps me feel like I have accomplished a great goal.

Now English has become the world’s most important language in politics, science, trade and cultural relations. English is the language of computers.
Learning English for pleasure includes listening to my favorite English songs, watching films without dubbing, chatting with friends from English-speaking countries in internet. All these things make my life exciting.

I have lots of hobbies and, honestly speaking, I can’t choose one. I adore each of them: reading, writing, dancing and travelling.
First of all, I am keen on reading. Since the time I learnt how to read I remember myself reading every evening. I am a big fan of classic literature and fiction. My favorite books are “Great Gatsby” and the Harry Potter series.
I am also keen on writing. I practice every day and hope that I will write a book one day. I have won some local competitions where my works were represented and I am really excited about it.
Another hobby of mine is travelling. I have already visited 27 countries and I wish I could visit all of them. That is why I am planning to take a gap year after school and do some volunteering job in some countries.
Dancing is my passion. I can’t live a day without doing some physical activity. I prefer modern dance especially contemporary. I have classes several times a week but I also go to the gym to keep fit.
So no matter how many hobbies you may have. The point is to enjoy what you do. And I can say that I love everything that I do.

I dream of having a large collection of my favorite books. One of the books I can read thousands times more is “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen. I have already read it in Russian and in English.
Another my hobby is figure skating. One day I want this hobby to become my profession. I want to become a trainer and teach children. I have trainings every day. For the trainings I need to get up at 5 a.m. but I feel so good after it that waking up early is not a problem.
It may seem that reading and skating take all my free time, but I also like listening to music, spending time with my friends, cooking with my mother and drawing with my sister. How do I manage to do all this? Well, it’s just the things that I like and I can always find some time for one of my hobbies.

Hobby is an activity that you enjoy doing in your free time. It isn’t connected to your job, but you engage in it regularly, because you like it a lot. Often, it brings you not only pleasure during the process, but also satisfaction with the results. You develop your skills and learn new things.
Hobbies may be creative, like singing, playing some musical instrument, drawing or handicraft. Many hobbies are related to amateur sports, like skating, skiing, yoga, pilates, dancing, aerobics, swimming. Some hobbies are quite useful domestic activities, like cooking, sewing or knitting.
As for me, my hobbies are quite different. Fitness is my number one hobby. I enjoy movement and physical exercise. Usually I have five trainings a week: two gym workouts, one stretching and two Dance Hall lessons. I don’t get tired, because I like what I do. I am always in a good humor after intensive training.
My second hobby is cooking. Cooking a delicious dinner is a usual part of my everyday schedule. I like Italian and Asian cuisine most of all: pasta, pizza, vegetable and fruit salads, sushi, Japanese soups, spicy Korean snacks and hot Chinese dishes with chicken or pork.
I also have a musical hobby – playing the guitar and singing songs. I do it seldom at home though. My friends and I often go on picnics and I take my guitar. We like to walk in the forest, eat sandwiches and make a bonfire. Then everybody sits around, I play the guitar and we sing funny songs.
I think that everybody needs a hobby. It is more interesting than spending all your free time in front of the computer or the TV. Movies and video games may be captivating, but hobbies make our everyday life more bright and diverse. Moreover, most of them develop our skills and broaden our minds. They say that switching to another activity is the most effective way to rest. Hobbies are just perfect for that.

My younger brother, on the opposite , is not hopping to make his computer hobby his future profession. He just plays computer games and doesn’t see any sense in combining career with hobby. It simply became his favourite activity in his leisure time and is helping him to relax. I respect his choice. But anyway it is great, when your hobby is your profession.
